It goes to the FBI database. They do an extensive backgroud check on you for upto 7 years. They go verify your background in your home country too. If you remember they would have asked you to fill up a biographic information form along with the fingerprinting.
I have submited my FP all 10 fingers when I was working for my past employer which was a financial company dealing in Credit Cards business. They collect it when they issue badge as part of security and its a federal requirement for financial company. I am not sure if they maintain it internally or send it to FBI for storage does any one have any info?

Personally I like the idea of not having a comprehensive reform !
Not that I am against immigration reforms...
But i feel it is important to distinguish between LEGAL and ILLEGAL immigration !!!
CIR was a thorn to many -- mostly because of the amnesty... or whatever for the ILLEGALS...
Having a seperate bill/bills for Legal Immigration Backlog clearance is the way to go :)
Brighter chances for it to pass... and that too sooner..
Just my 2 cents.

I wasn't filing for an extension but rather a transfer of my H1B. It expired while waiting for the transfer. Do you think that might make a difference....negatively?
My case is some what similar. My h1b extension packet was returned for lack of filing fee but before we could re-apply my old h1b expired. We applied however but USCIS approved h1B petition and didn't grant me h1b status i.e didn't issue I-94. I am required to leave the country for stamping.
Now we are filing nunc-pro-tunc petition essential pleading with USCIS it was no fault of my mine. You can do gooogle on this.

Couple of questions : I am planning to apply for EAD . I have already filed 485 on July 2 and got receipt no.s .
1. where to file : Here is the catch when filing 485 i am in IL and later moved on to CT. I have updated all addresses etc to CT and everything fine. Since i was in IL for 485 I applied to NSC now i am in CT and here it is VSC for form EAD. So where should i send my application to NSC or VSC?

You have only 2 options:
Either postpone your vacations or get new visa stamping on your passport.
If opting for new visa stamping on your passport then mentally prepared to stay for a bit longer time if in case.
Better ask your attorney, I believe he will suggest you the same.

You can work as many hours as you like when on H1B. The only requirement is that you work for the SAME EMPLOYER that sponsored your H1B.
Letter for parents to come if required only when getting visa at the consulate (addresses to Consular Gen.). Nothing is needed at Port Of Entry. They are Immigration Officers at POE, but the only questions they will ask is where will they stay? What is your name? where you work? etc. Simple Qs.

Make sure you keep ready your educational evaluation which proves that your education is equal to American M.S/M.B.A and your entire experience letters which say you worked for 5+ years for described job duties in case of RFE (You can't claim experience earned with the empolyer which is filing your PERM.)

The OP poster was not scorning against the average american, I think you are mixing two issues up, I am sure he has done his share of charity work, and he probably sympathizes with families who don't have a job, I don't think you can direct your anger against him.
This is a capitalistic society not a communist or a socialist society, the market will/should balance itself out, new industries come up, people get hired, if the attitude of the people is protectionist, which it is, it stifles innovation and growth, which in turns stifles the growth of new companies, which in turn would have helped the folks laid off get a job. Being emotional is OK, but one must be pragmatic. That said, i believe charity begins at home, one must take care of its own kith and kin before extending arms to others.

My I-94 has expired becoz it was issued up to my passport validity. If I have to renew it, is it a good option to cross border and get a new I-94, like going to Mexico or Canada. Please advice. I am not sure how to proceed. No one knows the procedure. Please if anyone knows, advice.
Do you have an unexpired visa? If so, just traveling out of US and coming back through port-of-entry should do the trick. For best results, try an airline travel. YMMV.

Hello all,
Could someone who are recently travelled via London Heathrow, please let me know what all should be done in order to obtain the DATV visa?
My flight stops there for under 2 hours (for cleaning and refuelling), and I was told I need to get the DATV since my visa expired and my approved AP alone is not enough.
Though I have gone through the required websites, i would still appreciate info from any one who recently experienced getting the DATV and travelling via London. Do I need to send I-485 receipt notice original and EAD as well?
Or is it enought to send the online application, passport, photo and AP originals?
Is there anyway to do everything in person, including handing over documents?
Also, it would be great if you could let me know how long it took to get the visa and your documents back!
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

I second it :) NO SSN REQUIRED FOR PP. I filled out 000-00-0000 for my son. I believe there was a site or document I looked up and got this info (dont remember where I found it).
You dont need a PIO. If it is emergency or you dont have time, just get a multiple entry visa. For kids at that age it does not make any difference whether they enter on PIO or a visa. Chicago issues visa the same day.
BTW does Indian consulate do background check and issue 221(g) :D:D
